Car Hire in Mozambique
Reliable Car Hire in Mozambique is currently limited to pick up and drop
off in the major cities of Maputo, Beira, and Nampula.
Car hire is cheaper in South Africa and so better
deals are available by collecting your vehicle in South Africa and driving
it to Mozambique rather than collecting your vehicle in Mozambique.
Car Hire Insurance Cover Explained
Standard and Super Cover
When you return your hire car you will be required to pay for tyre and
windscreen damage, and also any damage that occurs to the hire car up
to the excess amount (your maximum liability in the event of anything
happening to the hire car during the rental period) as well as any top
up of fuel if the car is returned from hire without a full tank. To cover
this a Rental Deposit by credit card is required on collection
of the car hire(Mastercard and Visa are the most commonly accepted), -
usually this is equal to the excess amount plus a R1000 fuel deposit,
the money will however not be removed from your card unless the hire car
is damaged.
Benefits of Platinum cover
- no contract fee (usually R35);
- cover for damage to rim, hubcaps and windscreens;
- cover for water and under-carriage damage;
- 2 additional drivers free of charge (usually R135 per driver);
- no young drivers surcharge (usually R125 per driver);
- 1 tank of fuel;
- No rental or fuel deposit required;
Car Hire Driver Requirements
- Car Hire drivers must hold a valid, unendorsed driving licence
- For Non South African Licence holders and International Drivers Permit
is required for driving in South Africa
- South African residents must be 21 years or over
- Non South African residents under 21 years may be permitted if they
have held a full drivers licence for at least 2 years. A Young Drivers
surcharge will apply.
