Maputo the capital is in the south of Mozambique with two sides of the
city facing the Indian Ocean.
Maputo is slowly being developed and has an interesting feel, with some
excellent sea-food restaurants, pavement cafes, a busy fish market and
a vibrant nightlife at clubs like coconuts along the seafront.
Maputo airport is just north of the city
and has LAM and South African Airways flying into Maputo airport from
South Africa.
The main road north from Maputo is a tar road that goes to Xai
Xai, Inhambane and Vilanculos
South of Maputo is the Maputo Elephant reserve, and the small village
of Ponta Do Ouro is only 130 km
from Maputo down a 4wd sandy track.

we felt that we would be more comfortable in a self catering
accommodation ( to do bottles etc). The Indy Village far surpassed
my expectations. Everything was of the best quality and we enjoyed
ourselves so much we actually felt as if we were at home. I

Nights.. It's was OK worth a stay if you are on a budget. Room
Charges are expensive. Food: You have limited Set of menu to
choose from expensive but good. Wi-Fi Access to all rooms not
free but reasonable charges from $10-$20.
Overall the staffs are friendly but there's the language issue
some speak English but the rest speak Portuguese So it's difficult
to make them understand exactly what we needed. Read

in Maputo. I was not disappointed. Rooms were clean and the
staff is very nice. Free wireless internet in the hotel lobby
was useful. There isn't much around the hotel, but I was there
for two days on business. My only complaint is the restaurant.
Breakfast was included and was nothing to write home about but
then none of them are. The evening buffet was not worth the
US$20. Limited choice and not great quality. Luckily, across
the park and to the left, on the waterfront, there's a great
place to eat called Zambi. Much cheaper and much, much better
food. |

to get away from Maputo. Staff were very friendly and the owners
were great. Just a short ferry ride across the bay with now
upgraded craft. A must if you are in Maputo. The views are breathtaking!!
