The beaches in this area are stunning and the are will appeal to
all nature lovers. The Xai Xai area is a great place for fishing,
fishing charters are provided at Zongoene Lodge (situated on the
Limpopo river mouth just south of Xai-Xai) but other than this you
would be best to take along all your own equipement and boats.
Zongoene Lodge is situated at a beach location near the mouth of
the Limpopo River. Rooms are available at the lodge on a dinner,
bed & breakfast basis, and there are also self catering options.
A high ground clearance vehicle is recommended, in the rainy
season the track can get a little tricky for 2wd vehicles.
Once there take a river cruise, go on quad trails or just work
on your tan on the beach or around the swimming pool. Other facilities
at the lodge include a restaurant, T.V. area with Satellite Link,
beach bar, conference room and laundry.
Groups of up to 14 people will love the private self catering
"Dune Camp".
The Chalets are tastefully furnished and have en-suite bathrooms
and sliding doors leading onto extended balconies. The pool chalets
surround a large swimming pool whilst the family chalets are set
back in lush indigenous gardens. The whole complex is electrified
and all chalets and public areas have overhead fans. All windows
and sliding doors also have mosquito netting for the protection
of the guests.
The Dunes Camp consists of 5 rustic chalets sleeping 14 in total.
The Camp is self-catering and also has a dining area, braai and
kitchen, swimming pool and is fully serviced, with a butler to help
with food preparation etc
The Casarão (“Big House”) consists of four
en-suite bedrooms, a lounge / kitchen & dining area and an extended
covered balcony. The Casarão is also self-catering and is
fully serviced
Casa Madeira (“Wooden House”) consists of two bedrooms
sleeping 4 with a bathroom, kitchen/lounge/dining area and a balcony.
The Casa Madeira is also fully serviced.

CONFERENCING The Conference Centre is fully equipped
and catering can be provided for up to 60 guests. This well designed
venue with access to spectacular indigenous gardens, provides a
venue with a difference, a mere stones throw from the beach. A variety

One reaches Zongoene by road from Maputo via Bilene (a small resort
town) or if arriving from the North, just after Xai Xai, there is
a turn off to the left to Chicumbane. You will travel on 36 km’s
of sand road. During the raining season it is advisable to access
the lodge in a 4-wheel drive vehicle.* Please note that the speed
limit is 40km per hour when passing through Towns and Villages ALL
VEHICLES Turn left after the Motola toll plaza, on the outskirts
of Maputo, following the signs to Xai Xai - Route EN1. Your route
will lead past the main towns of: Marracuene, Manhica, Macia and
Chissano. Before Xai-Xai on the main road is a big sign to Zongoene,
turn right. This is approximately 192 km from Maputo on the main
road at a small town called Chicumbane.On your left, you will see
an electrical transformer station. Keep on the main road for approximately
35kms to the lodge. Follow Zongoene pointers at the intersections.
