The following points are for your general information:
Please beware of the Coconuts. You may eat them, but if
they fall on your head.
Mozambique is a Malaria area. Please take all precautions against
this little creature. Always take a shower after your days’
activities. Use your preventative lotions/sprays, as well as burn
coils and citronella candles. While we do have aircons and mosquito
nets in the bedrooms and mosquito netted frames on the windows,
we can not guarantee your safety outside.
We are living in AFRICA. Please keep your eyes to the ground, and
watch out for snakes. Especially for children. While we do not have
much of a problem with them, we do not have a toll road to keep
them out.
There are a number of Restaurants around Bilene that you may visit.
The Lagoon front Restaurants are Aquarius, Carioca and Praia do
Sol. Bilas, Petrol station next to Petromoc serves very good burgers
and pizzas. Capital diagonally across from the Hardware store serves
good food. Chin Chin on the main road next to the market serves
good calamari and chicken.
There are now 2 banks in Bilene, that accept Visa Electron Cards,
and you can draw out Meticais from your bank account. The first
bank is situated as you enter Bilene. The second bank is on the
main road after the market. There is also an ATM at the Petromoc
Petrol Station.
Alcohol is cheaper if you purchase them in the Market. There is
a bottle store, but I find them to be pricey, and their exchange
rates are rather high.
There is a Bakery in the market.
Our dogs have been vaccinated, and they do not bite, and are children
friendly. They are at the Villa, because that is their home. Please
DO NOT feed the dogs.
It is now law that all quad bikes are to be parked at 6pm. Any
quads on the roads after this time, will be confiscated by the police
and released the following morning. NO DRIVING OR RIDING ON THE
BEACH IS ALLOWED.
Launching Boats requires a visit to the Maritimo, where you will
have to purchase a boat license that is valid for 30 days and costs
Mts600.00. Each launch will also cost you Mts100.00 for the use
of the ramp. (Payable at the ramp).
We can also arrange for some tribal dancing from the local villages
at a cost of Mts2000.00.
Enjoy your stay.
