Nhonguane Lodge is located 3km from Santa Maria village, along the esteemed Machangulo Peninsula.

Nhonguane Lodge houses offer self-catering accommodation, fully equipped kitchens and daily service that will ensure peace of mind vacation for individuals, groups or the whole family.
Every bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with tiled floors adding to the coolness in summer.

All units are air-conditioned, and all windows have mosquito nets.
Beautiful local hardwood accents all houses from floors to doors.

The safari-tented camp offers a very comfortable alternative for the nature lover. From waking up with the early morning bird calls to sitting under the stars at night, while still in the comfort of the necessary amenities.
The camp has a large thatched roof entertainment area with kitchen, bar counter and dining area.
There is a social braaiplace under shady Marula trees.

The camp consists of 3 safari tents sleeping 4 people each. All tents have fans, ensuite bathrooms and mosquito nets for every bed.
This camp is a few meters from the deck leading down to the beach.

The lodge is situated along the beach of the Maputo Bay 1km from the channel separating the Machangulo Peninsula from Inhaca Island.


Facing west you can enjoy beautiful sunsets over the bay while enjoying a sundowner at the Lodge’s Beach Bar.
As well as aquatic activities the area has beautiful coastal forest, and mangrove swamps to explore, with Santa Maria village a fusion of African and Portuguese.

A 600m walk along the beach to the notorious Hell’s Gate - the channel separating the Santa Maria Peninsula from Inhaca Island. Facing west we enjoy beautiful sunsets over the Bay.

With Inhaca a 10min boat trip across the channel. The local village of Santa Maria stock most necessities ie. bread, oil, longlife-milk, salt, sugar and various fresh produce. Sea-food sold on site brought in by local vendors, prawns, crab and fish are usually available.
