Azura Benguerra Island is situated on the Benguerra Island, the second largest island in the Bazaruto Archipelago in Mozambique. It is famous for its unspoiled white beaches, remarkable dive sites and excellent fishing.

There are a total of 16 Beach Villa's – 1 Beach Villa and 3 Luxury Beach Villa's, 10 Infinity Beach Villa's, 1 Villa Amizade and 1 Presidential Villa. All villas are very spacious and offers guests their own private pool, beach frontage, outdoor Sala, his and hers outdoor showers and/or full bathroom, king size beds, mini bar, air conditioning and butler / host service. Each villa is nestled amidst the indigenous trees and bushes and created to offer guests their own private sanctuary.

Guests can enjoy a variety of activities ranging from our beach picnics, private dining, guided bird watching / walking trials, oceans sea museum, Dugong/Whale tracking, land rover island drives, cultural encounters, beach walks with a picnic, star gazing events. Scuba diving guided snorkeling trips, deep sea fishing in custom built boat, fly fishing, shore based fishing, sea kayaking, dhow sailing and dhow sunset cruise.

Azura's uniquely Africa spa which offers signature treatments based on local ingredients and traditions. These include being rubbed down with ground coconut shells or diamond dust, covered head to toe with tamarind and aloe or gently massaged with warm Marula oil.

Azura is located on Benguerra Island within the Bazaruto Marine National Park. Benguerra Island lies 14km north east of Vilanculos, the nearest town and site of the international airport.

How To Get There
GPS Co-ordinates: 21°51'12.83"S, 35°26' 18.79"E

There are daily flights on Federal Air and LAM from Johannesburg International airport (OR Tambo) to the newly modernised Vilanculos International Airport (VNX). The flying time from Johannesburg is approximately 2 hours. These flights are designed to connect well with the major international flights to and from Europe. There are also regular flights from Maputo (MPM) on LAM.

On Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays the Federal Air flight collects passengers from Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport (MQP), with an onward flying time of just 1 hour. This facilitates an effortless beach and bush experience.

Visas are available on arrival (currently US$85 but note this is subject to frequent change). Where possible please obtain your visa in advance to speed your arrival through the airport. US Dollars, South African Rands and Mozambican Meticas are accepted in Mozambique. Please have cash for your visa available on arrival.

Transferring To Benguerra Island

Azura operates a state of the art helicopter for the transfers from Vilanculos to Benguerra Island. The flying time is approx 10 minutes, and will connect with your arriving/departing flight. This should be booked at the same time as your accommodation. The flight is operated by Alpine Aviation.

Benguerra Island does have a short grass strip which can accommodate smaller private aircraft. You should check suitability and conditions in advance as the runway lies in a wetland area and conditions are not always suitable for take off and landing.

To help you stay longer with us at Azura, we offer one night for free when you stay for 5 nights, or 2 nights for free when you stay for 10 nights or more in 2013. In 2014 when you stay 6 nights you only pay for 5, and when staying 12 nights you only pay for 10.
