Sera Lodge is a holiday resort with breathtaking scenery and a magnitude of exciting activities to make your vacation one you will never forget. Accessible preferably by 4x4 vehicles, Sera Lodge is situated on the beach side, 280km north of Maputo (Approx. 800km from Johannesburg).

Accommodation
Turtle Casa
The Turtle Casa's share a communal kitchen with basic kitchen essentials, fridge/freezer, 2 x 2 Plate gas stove, tables and chairs. They have their own bathroom and braai area and are available in 2 bed or 4 bed. There are three 2 bed and two 4 bed casa's. Turtle Casa's do not have a sea view.

Sera Casa

The Sera Casa sleeps 4 people and has
its own bathroom, braai area and kitchen with the basic kitchen essentials, standard gas stove with oven, fridge/freezer, tables and chairs. The Sera Casa do not have a sea view.

King Fish Casa
The King Fish Casa is a 6 bed casa with its own Kitchen and Bathroom with a lovely sea view as seen above.

Whale Casa
The Whale Casa is a 20 bed casa.

Activities
Water Activities
Deep Sea Fishing Charters are available and includes bait, fishing tackle and drinks. You can also bring your own boat. The Launch site is about 2km from Sera Lodge. Our visitors often do some Spear fishing, Rock and Surf fishing and even Fly fishing is very popular in our area. There's a favorite rock pool right in front of Sera Lodge. Swimming and the best snorkeling, so bring your gear. Jet ski's, kayaking.

Site Seeing
We have 2 Shipwrecks close by, the Maputo 5 and The SA Barge.
And there is ample opportunity for Photography and Bird Watching.
We are close to many interesting sites, like the Old White Church, the light house and some local Curio Stalls. All situated in and around the nearby town of Chidengeule. There is also a big fresh water lake close by. 4 Restaurants 40km, 7km, 4km, and 1km. The local village has a bakery which you will pass on the way to Sera Lodge

Directions
From Pretoria / Johannesburg drive towards Witbank.
Use the N4 via Witbank, Nelspruit, Malelane, Komatipoort to the Lebombo border into Mozambique.
After the border, use the EN4 towards Maputo.
You will reach the 1st Tollgate, Moamba Plaza.
Drive towards Maputo and when you reach a robot, turn left to Maputo.
You will reach the 2nd Tollgate, Maputo Plaza.
After this tollgate you take the Xai Xai off ramp (EN1).
On the EN1 North (Xai Xai road) you will drive through various small towns before reaching Xai Xai:
(Marraquenne, Manica, Palmeiras, 3 de Ferreiras, Magul, Mimbiri, Macia, Incaia, Chucumbane).
After Xai-Xai drive to Chidenguele via Chongoene, Nhamavilla, Chizavane.
In Chidenguele, turn right and continue for 500m until you reach the T-Juntion
At the T-Junction, turn left and continue for 700m until you reach the bakery.
Turn right at the bakery and continue on this road
When the road makes the first fork, stay the left.
Continue for 4.2km and turn right.
Continue for 2km until you reach Sera Lodge

General Info
All units are self catering
Bedding and Mosquito Nets are included.
Casa's are serviced once a day between 9am to 1pm.
No Tents allowed.
No Towels are supplied.

Travelling Tips
Wear your safety belt at all times.
If sign shows 80/60 km/h please travel that speed limit.
Do not take your safety belt off until official is by your vehicle and they ask you to get out.
If pulled off the road, please remember to put your hazards on immediately.
If towing a trailer please display the yellow or red triangle on the right front of your vehicle.
There must be a yellow reflecter jacket in every vehicle.

Climate
The climate is tropical and sub-tropical, conditioned by the regime of monsoons from the Indian Ocean and by hot currents coming from equatorial regions. In the north and center of the country it is tropical-humid. In south its tropical dry and there is a tropical high climate, which covers the mountains. The hot and rainy season is between November and April average temperature is 21º to 29º C. From May to October average temperature 17º to 25º C. There is moderate rain and lower temperatures in July and August.

Language
The official language is Portuguese; however English is spoken all over the country.

Credit cards / Currency
Mozambique's local currency is the Metical; however US dollars and SA Rand are widely accepted. It's advisable to carry cash as credit cards are not widely accepted at smaller establishments and obtaining a cash advance on a credit card in a bank can be a costly and time consuming process.

Unleaded petrol/diesel
There is a petrol station with a quick-shop less than 10 km from Sera Lodge and is open from 6:00 to 22:00.

Food/Snacks
Food is traditionally based on the Afro-Portuguese style. All over Mozambique you will find several quality restaurants, serving typical dishes and international food. But you cannot buy meat - bring your own meat vacuum sealed and frozen. Limited fresh vegetables are available in Xai-Xai or in Chidenguele at the market. Some tinned food but no cream, yogurt, butter or cheese is found. Divert things like snacks, alcohol, cool drinks; vegetables are available from our local shop ("Pick & Pay") at a price in Chidenguele. Local Curio stall. There is also a a Shoprite (U save) in Xai-Xai that can supply the basic necessities.

Drinking water
Water is treated, but it will be safer to drink bottled water, which can be found in all supermarkets and shops. Sera Lodge has borehole water which is safe to drink.

Health
There is a local Clinic in Chidenguele with the basic facilities. There are local 24 hour chemists in Xai-Xai available and a Hospital. Management can supply you with contact details for a doctor in Xai-Xai. In case of emergency Netcare 911 can be contacted on 00258 84 911 or 82 911 in Mozambique. Inoculations against yellow fever, tetanus, hepatitis etc are currently not required by Mozambique. It is wise to take precautions against tetanus and malaria.
