Truly the most amazing beachfront accommodation property in Vilanculos, Mozambique.

The resort has 18 casas, restaurant and bar with magnificent views of the constantly changing vistas of the Bazaruto Archipelago. A crystal clear pool set in lush gardens is perfect for cooling off or even for a spot of exercise!

At Archipelago Sun Resort we firmly believe that the success of this project is the variety and mix of activities, comfort and relaxation. With the latter in mind, the resort offers maid service, restaurant, bar, fresh water swimming pool, permanent boat sheds and miles of unspoiled beaches.

The activity centre offers scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing and various other beach activities. There is a central area with a restaurant, bar and swimming pool.

For the more active, we boast an extensive knowledge of the area, and our on-site Activities Centre, whose portfolio includes unexplored dive sites, fantastic surf, fly and big game fishing.
Snorkelling at two mile reef has been rated amoungst the best in the world.

The Chalets:
Archipelago Sun Resort is self catering resort and consists of eighteen chalets. The units sleep six people comfortably and have a fully equipped kitchen. The chalets at Archipelago Sun Resort are equipped with a double bedroom with shower en suite, a bedroom with two single beds and a separate shower, and a mezzanine floor with two beds.
There are 18 beautiful Indonesian styled casas which offer exquisite views of the Indian Ocean. Each are fully equipped and sleep 6 comfortably.

Each casa offers:
2 bedrooms (1 double bed and 2 single beds)
2 bathrooms (one en suite) and
1 mezzanine bedroom with 2 single beds.
Large living and dining area, an open plan kitchen (fridge and freezer combo unit), walk in pantry and a separate store room.
Ceiling fans throughout.

The casa verandas have breath-taking sea views. There are braai facilities in the gardens and all allow for easy access to the swimming pool, bar & restaurant.

All accommodation is self catering, but for those who do not wish to cook for themselves, the resort restaurant serves a tasty menu - fish, calamari and prawns fresh from the sea, piri-piri chicken and hamburgers. Meals can also be delivered to the casas. Pool and beach braais can be arranged.

Near the bar & restaurant, set in the lush garden and surrounded by decking, with a magnificent sea view, you\'ll find the crystal clear pool. It is of a good size if you wish to exercise but is equally suited for relaxing and cooling off in with a cocktail from the bar.

The Restaurant:
For those guests who do not wish to cater for themselves the resort has its own restaurant - The Vista Do Mar - which serves a tasty menu of fish, calamari and prawns fresh from the sea, piri-piri chicken and hamburgers. Meals can also be delivered to the casas. Pool and beach braais can be arranged.

Next to the restaurant you'll find our well stocked bar overlooking the sea where you can relax with a local beer, sip on a G&T or try one of our special cocktails. If you have a favourite cocktail why not ask our friendly barman if he can make it for you.

Near the bar, set in the lush garden and surrounded by decking, with the same magnificent sea view, you\'ll find the crystal clear pool. Enjoy your cocktails while relaxing in the pool!

Avtivites and Tours
Fishing
Why not enjoy a thrilling day out deep sea fishing or salt-water fly fishing.
The best time for Marlin fishing is from mid September to the end of December, Sailfish from April to August and smaller game fish such as King Mackerel, Bonito, Travelli, Queen Mackerel are available all year round.
Diving
Enjoy an afternoon of scuba diving, snorkeling or take a Dive course. With many reefs to explore, the wealth and beauty of the sea life is breath taking!

If you do not want to get a dive license, snorkeling is just as exciting, Float on the calm seas and swim above the coral - you will not be disappointed!
Beach Sports
Volley ball, cricket, touch rugby - you name it, you can play it on the beach!
Wind Surfing
For the experienced or first time wind surfer, don't be shy it's great fun!
Whale & Dolphin Watching
Although whale watching is mainly around August, as they migrate down the coast, the playful dolphins can be seen all year round. Take a boat ride out and swim with the dolphins, or paddle out on your body board - an inquisitive dolphin is sure to find you!
Horse Riding
Nothing compares to the thrill of an early morning or evening ride down the beach - water spraying off the sea and the rhythmic motion of a strong horse enjoying the exercise just as much as you. You do not need to be an experienced rider to enjoy galloping in the surf.
Dhow Booze Cruise
A fantastic way to relax! Hop on one of the local fishing boats called dhows and sail out on the open sea.

Location - How To Find Us!

By Air
Archipelago Resort is located 7km south of the coastal town of Vilanculos, and 2km from the Vilanculos International Airport. The airport is fully staffed by Customs and Immigration (visas available at the airport), and is serviced regularly from Johannesburg and Maputo.
Vilanculos is 750km by road from Maputo or one could fly from Maputo on LAM the National Airliner.

Transfers to and from the airport, restaurants, places of interest and village or market tours can be arranged – not included (extra cost to the guest).
No visas required for South African Passport holders.

By Road
Vilanculos is located on the National EN1 road, which runs between Maputo and Beira.

Directions from the North – (Zimbabwe to Vilanculos)
The distance from the Mutare border post to Vilanculos is 580kms. If you are traveling from Zimbabwe, Tete or Chimoio: follow the main Beira road and turn south at Inchope. This is the National road EN1 to Inhassoro, Vilanculos, Xai-Xai and Maputo. You will cross the Revue, Busi and Save Rivers. The Vilanculos turn-off is approximately 380 km from Inchope. At Pambarra you turn-off to the left and Vilanculos is 20 km from Pambarra. Our signs in the village will lead you to the Lodge, which lies approximately 5km north of the village. Parts of the road after the Save Rive Bride are pot-holed and caution should be exercised. A 4x4 vehicle is not necessary at any stage of the journey.

Directions from the South - (South Africa (Nelspruit) to Vilankulos)
Vilanculos is 750km by road from Maputo. The distance from Nelsruit to Vilankulos is 910kms. Follow the main toll road from Komatipoort to Maputo. Just before entering Maputo, you turn left onto the National road EN1 to the North (Xai-Xai, Inhambane, Vilanculos, Beira). From this point the turn-off to Vilanculos is approximately 780 km and you will travel through Xai-Xai, Maxixe and Massinga. At Pambarra you will find the Vilanculos turn-off (to the right). Vilanculos is 20 km from the Pambarra turn-off. Our signs in the village will lead you to the Lodge, which lies approximately 5km north of the village.
