Modern MSC Sinfonia comes to SA shores offering cruising at affordable rates !

Starlight Cruises, South Africa’s only operator of regular cruises from and around the South African coast, has announced that the Liner, MSC SINFONIA, will from November 2009 operate cruises from Durban to destinations in the Indian Ocean and Mozambique Channel.

At 58600 tons and close to 2100 passengers, the MSC SINFONIA will be the largest and most modern ship to have ever operated from a South African port.

The MSC SINFONIA is a new liner hosting 778 cabins, of which 135 are suites with private balconies.
The ship also boasts 3 restaurants, 7 bars, 2 pools, spa, business and conference centre, internet café, casino, cigar room, disco, fitness centre, golf simulator, library, card room, mini club, teen’s club, exchange office and medical centre.
The facilities and onboard activities allow for travelers to tailor make their own experience whilst in the luxurious surroundings.

From daytime activities to evening entertainment, all tastes and needs are catered for. Children are more than welcome with relevant facilities offered.

Programme for the Day
A detailed programme of the next day’s activities, designed to keep passengers informed about events and entertainment offered by the Starlight Staff, will be delivered to the cabins every evening.
Free pasttime activities On-Board
During the cruise, tournaments including bridge, pool games, quizzes, karaoke, creative classes, interesting lectures, game shows etc., are arranged.
Duty Free Shopping
Visit the ship’s Duty Free boutiques and take pleasure in browsing and selecting from a superb range of clothing, cosmetics, jewellery, film, glasses and sun creams, souvenirs and gifts. There is plenty to tempt you and some great gifts for family and friends can be found.
Please Note - Liquor purchased on board will only be released on day of disembarkation.
Children's Activities
Having a family holiday? We want everyone to have the time of their lives, so the ships offer a full programme of daily activities for children between the ages of 4 and 12. Our highly trained Children’s hostesses will keep your children safe, sound and entertained.
Dress
Leisure wear is recommended for life on-board the ship and for shore excursions. Dark suits for the men and a cocktail dress for the ladies (is recommended) for the Captain’s Cocktail party and Gala Dinner (4 night cruises or longer). It is a good idea to bring a pullover or shawl to protect you against the differences in temperatures in the air-conditioned areas and for evenings on deck.
Light up the Nights
On your cruise, you will delight in our fun-packed theme evenings. Perhaps a formal cocktail party or a fancy dress night. Early in the cruise there will also be a Singles evening for guests travelling alone - an ideal opportunity to meet someone with whom to share those themed evenings.
A pre-dinner walk around the deck is a sure way to get you into the spirit of things, after which a sundowner can be had at one of the several bars before settling down to enjoy a delectable dinner.
After supper if you are ready for action – take to the dance floor as the resident band plays favourite songs – old and new. For a faster pace, the disco is the place . . . our professional DJ is always in tune with the mood and not to be missed are the nightly cabaret shows with dancers, singers, comedians and many more.
Sinfonia have a hand picked team of talented professional entertainers to add zest to each evening’s enjoyment.
The Casino stays open till late and whether blackjack, roulette or the poker machines are your choice, there is always someone on hand to take care of you and wish you luck. There is always plenty of excitement in the Casino and who knows . . . there could be a jackpot with your name on it just waiting to be won!
Moonlight and Romance
For many, a favourite offering is the midnight snack served in the various lounges, dining room or on deck under the glittering stars, after which you might decide on a nightcap and a moonlit stroll along the deck before retiring to your comfortable cabin.
Feast of Delights
We know that one of the best parts of an ocean cruise is the great food, which is why our chefs spend so much time and attention preparing superb selections of Italian and International cuisine for your enjoyment. From morning till late, there are as many choices as desires . . . and it’s all included in the price of your cruise. There is never a bill to take the edge off the pleasure of your meal!
Generally, depending on the number of passengers, there are two sittings for dinner. The Maitre d’Hotel will allocate your table and sitting time in the embarkation hall before boarding the ship. The same table will be kept throughout the cruise for your evening meal.
Coffee for early-risers is served on the outside deck from 6.30 am to 7.30 am.
Wake up to a continental breakfast in bed which can be ordered from your cabin steward, or enjoy breakfast on deck or in the dining room, where a selection of fresh fruit juices, tea and freshly brewed coffee, cereals, pastries and traditional hot breakfast dishes await you – the choice is always yours!
Lunch too is enjoyed either in the dining room or on deck in the welcoming fresh sea air.
Dinner is an Extravaganza
On entering the dining room, you will be impressed with the flair and enthusiasm with which everyone strives to make your meal a pleasure.
Select from the gourmet dinner menu of international culinary masterpieces. You will be surprised by the flair with which the ship’s meals are created.
Special dietary requirements can be catered for, but must be requested at the time of booking the cruise.
Wines served on board are of the very best from Italy, France and South Africa. If you are not sure which would be best to compliment the dish of your choice, our stewards will always be on hand to help you with your selection.
Before you leave the diningroom, take a minute to admire the spectacular set pieces which have been patiently carved out of humble vegetables - a feast for your eyes as well as your palate!

Midnight Magic
Late night sea breezes can stir up the appetite and the midnight snack is the perfect way to satisfy your hunger pangs before a late night stroll or a peaceful sleep. Each night the Ship’s chef plans a different theme, could be a chocolate night, a fruit night – who know’s – ENJOY
