Accommodation
The general campsite is situated on the beachfront. The sites are
not numbered and work on a first come first serve basis. The campsite
has 2 ablution blocks, which have hot water showers. Please note
that the water pressure is not the same as at home. It may disappear
when you are having a shower. Toilet paper is supplied.
The Simply Scuba dive camp is situated within the grounds of the
general campsite, and is only 30m from the beach. Our dive camp
has 47 3m x 3m tents under Reed Waterproof shade cover, and 22 reed
casita rooms, each equipped with two mattresses and wooden beds,
pillows, fitted sheets, pillow cases and 2 duvets.
The casitas also have mosquito nets, a fan and light switch. There
is a 200sqm dining area incorporating two kitchens, one for self-catering
(Bring all your own food products) and the other providing a pre-booked
food packages for guests of the dive camp camp only.
Limited fridge/freezer space is also available for the Self-Catering
groups. Adjoining the dining area is one large braai/barbecue facility,
allowing you the perfect environment to sit around the fire and
relax at night after an exciting days diving.
Ablution facilities are included within the grounds of the Dive
Camp. Please bring your own anti-mosquito sprays and lotions –
candles/mosquito coils/gas lamps are not allowed.
Facilities
Catering packages are offered to those clients staying only within
the grounds of the Dive Camp. Due to the remoteness of the resort,
all meals need to be pre-booked prior to arrival. Individual meals
or meal packages can be booked. Tea and coffee is available 24 hours
a day.
There is also a facility provided for guests who wish to self-cater,
where fridge space, crockery, cutlery and washing facilities are
provided for a small daily fee.
Simply Scuba does not sell any drinks. Guests are therefore requested
to bring their own drinks, or purchase from the central campsite
bar or from one of the nearby shops.
For the non-divers
The beach in front of the campsite and chalets is ideal for water
sports, sunbathing and beach games. In the village, there is quad
bike hire, and the sand roads in the area provide some exiting times
for 4x4 enthusiasts.
The bay of Ponta do Ouro is very safe for snorkeling and sun tanning
on the long golden beach. The bay also offers jet-ski riders hours
of fun, playing in the waves and on the protected bay waters.
For hikers, the hill which accommodates the lighthouse, not only
presents a steep and demanding walk, but also some of the most spectacular
views, over land and sea. Spray with mosquito repellant before you
go. For shop-aholics, there is a curio stall just outside the campsite
grounds. Bargain your wallets away!
Dive Boats
The dive boats used by our company are the latest 7m and 8m Rubber
ducks/Zodiacs, which are fully equipped with the necessary safety
equipment for up to 16 divers. Emergency oxygen is available on
each boat and at the dive camp.
Additional services, which we offer at no extra charge, are transportation
to and from the boats, suckers for after the dive, de-kiting and
washing of equipment by our trained staff, equipment storage and
dives being lead by qualified Dive masters.
