A Ponta Beach camp not only serves as a base to explore Ponta and Southern Mozambique, but also as a base to participate in all the activities that Ponta is renowned for: scuba diving, dolphin and whale watching, surfing, kite boarding, jet skiing, fishing, bird watching, wildlife safaris.

Accommodation at Ponta Beach Camp Ponta Do Ouro

Beach Front Camp:
Consists of large permanent ”East Africa Safari Style” Tents, constructed on elevated wooden platforms. These units are located virtually on the beach, all are en-suite. The camp is self catering and there is a communal kitchen and dining area behind the accommodation units. Each unit has its own fridge / freezer combination fridge situated in this communal area. For those not wanting the hassle of cooking, our popular restaurant Barraca do Ponta situated in the next door Main Camp, offers affordable meal options and catering packages. The whole camp is security fenced and security guards patrol at night.

Main Camp:
This camp is much larger, and set back a little from the beach, under the coastal trees. There are essential two types of accommodation options available in this camp: Barracas – which are traditional, reed constructed “Mozambique style” rooms and Safari Tents – which are the smaller, classic safari tents.

Private Campsites:
There are also 3 private campsites situated within the Main Camp Area. Campers booking these sites enjoy full use of the Main Camp facilities. This camp is serviced by 2 large communal ablution blocks, with hot and cold water. There is also a very large dining area with adjacent communal kitchen, equipped with gas cookers and large braai area.

Restaurante Barraca Da Ponta
Scuba Adventures has built a brand new Restaurant, with Bar, for its clients staying with us. The emphasis is on convenient, affordable, quality food. In order not to restrict, or limit client’s food options, the meal packages will be in the form of vouchers. These can be utilized for any meals and drinksin the restaurant, at any time, to the value of the voucher. Parents and kids vouchers can be combined under one account. This system offers much more flexibility, and does not restrict you to certain meals only, or specific times. You can still take your own food for 1 night’s braai, for example, or go out to eat in another restaurant.

Activities and Facilities at Ponta Beach Camp

Scuba Adventures operates a permanent, eco - friendly dive camp from the campsite at Ponta. The Camp is situated under shady coastal forest trees, near the beach. The latest Mares Scuba Rental Gear has been purchased, In addition all equipment has been serviced and upgraded, as well as the dive boats, and the compressor / airbank installations have all been overhauled and upgraded.

A Nitrox Blender is expected to be delivered early in the new year. Scuba Adventures also operates a permanent dive base from the Motel, and the "kitting up / Beach Control Deck" is situated on a thatched wooden deck, on the grass behind the restaurant. This is convenient for the divers, as it is directly opposite the Cabanas, and they, and their equipment is transported from there to the dive boats on the beach.
