The Nanatha bay ends at a wonderful point known as Nuarro, formed from ancient coral rock which has eroded over aeons of time.

Because we wanted the lodge to be built by local people and to utilise local materials, we decided to give the lodge a local name. That’s why it’s called Nuarro!

At the end of the day you can look forward to a good night’s sleep in your extra long king size bed, surrounded by beautifully crafted furniture and ornaments which all create a warm and homely feeling. At Nuarro you feel at home!

The colourful capulunas of Mozambique:
If you visit Mozambique you will see colourful capulanas everywhere. They are an important feature of life in Mozambique.

A woman’s wealth is measured by the number of capulanas she has. The capulanas are used as wrap-around skirts, headscarves, sheets, towels, as well as to carry babies in. This brochure’s design is inspired by the beautiful capulanas of East Africa.

The Lodge:
Reception:

Nuarro’s guests are welcomed in a very special reception area positioned at the top of the dune to reveal the magnificent Memba bay in small doses. This building leads to the Beach Bar and Marine Activity Centre. From here our visitors can enjoy the bush lined walkways to their chalets, take the beach route or be driven, if more convenient.
There is a safe room for storage of valuables and luggage storage room.
A computer for internet access is available.
Next to the reception is the office area, where managers are available at all times to attend to any need.

The Restaurant:
A panoramic high-class Restaurant & Cocktail Bar is located on the west end of the beach with view to “Nanatha Island Rock” and the bay beyond. Fresh seafood and salads will form creative menu, which incorporates traditional and international cuisine.
The restaurant has a sunken lounge area with library where coffee/tea and home-made cakes and cookies are served in the afternoons.

Beach Bar:
To relax the day away, chill out after an activity or simply watch the whales pass by (seasonal). The Beach Bar is a great informal spot where light snacks can be enjoyed throughout the day and more lively parties in the evening time.
The Beach Bar is located next to the Marine Activity Centre with a large joined wooden deck giving a full sea view and beach access.
Comfort and informal atmosphere are the themes at this space.

Marine Activity Centre:
Beyond diving, the Marine Activity Centre offers an extensive array of guest activities which include:
• Snorkelling
• Whale and Dolphin watching (seasonal)
• Dhow sailing trips
• Sea kayaking

A number of land-based Activities are also available.

The view over the bay from the luxury and spacious beach front chalets is truly amazing. The chalets were designed by a local French architect who developed traditional chalets in a sophisticated space. You can enjoy the privacy of your African house while you sit on the spacious veranda.

Relax on the sun loungers or gaze at the blue sky as you gently swing in your hammock. The indoor and outdoor showers mean you will always feel refreshed and ready for the next adventure.

Experienced PADI and IANTD diving instructors are available at any time to provide personal or group training for all levels.
So, why wait any longer? Dive into Nuarro’s colourful world!

The direct access to the sea, the closeness of the continental shelf and undiscovered sites make Nuarro a perfect diving location. It is also ideal for snorkelling, fishing and whale watching (seasonal). You can use a kayak to discover the mangroves, secluded bays and deserted beaches. You can also go on a sailing trip or a sundown cruise in traditional wooden dhows to private beaches for an exclusive picnic.

If you want to experience the bush, you can explore Nuarro’s conservation area by following the eco trails by foot or on a mountain bike and enjoy the wonders of the sub-tropical surroundings. This area has an abundance of bird life. Alternatively, you can visit an authentic cultural village and meet the friendly Macua people. One thing is for sure, you will discover amazing new worlds ...

The proximity to the continental shelf allows for extraordinary shore dives and boat dives within Memba Bay. Along the stunning Baixo do Pinda walls are the more challenging dives these are reached by boat (25 to 60mins boat rides). The bottom topography in the Nanatha Bay is very dramatic, with sections of vertical drop-offs, swim throughs, shallow caves and colourful pinacles.

For the learner or diver looking for a more mellow experience the shallow areas (10 to 15 metres) of Nuarro home-reef are full of life. These areas are full of coral bommies, sandy stretches and sea grasses.

The proximity to the mangrove, optimal water temperature and visibility is reflected on the great diversity of coral and coral dependent spieces. Large pelagic life is found along the Baixo do Pinda walls where currents are stronger.
