Escondidinho
Ilha De Mocambique

Hotel Escondidinho is a lovely large old house, tastefully restored in typical style, with a swimming pool in the internal garden.
Hotel Escondidinho benefits from high ceilings, large windows and its position on a quiet street in the middle of the island.

The hotel staff can organise dhow trips to the neighbouring islands and beaches and sunset cruises.

There is an excellent restaurant in the hotel, run by a French couple.

Hotel Escondidinho, located in Ilha de Mozambique, is a unique destination in Mozambique and is 5 and a half hours by road south of Pemba in Nampula Province. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the island was the country's first capital.

The fascinating mix of African, Arab and European culture and history is displayed in the churches and mosques, beautiful colonial buildings and small traditional houses, the imposing fort, the old Portuguese houses (some dating back to the sixteenth century), the well-maintained, interesting museums and above all in the local population, their culture and their incredibly varied faces.

The house is very well located in downtown the island of Mozambique. The small swimming pool is great as the island can be hot and is the only "clean" place to swim... The rooms are OK but quite simple. Nice old furniture. Air con is helpful too. Food is strongly French oriented (the chef is French) and is just great with local accents. A great place to stay to visit this anomaly which is the great Island of Mozambique...

The courtyard is nice and green, shady reception area. However, much overpriced restaurant with weak English-speaking staff. Try better restaurant Reliquias, across the square for much more better value for money!
