3 Night Luxury Self-Drive Safari
Example Itinerary
Day 1
Collect your vehicle from chosen location (all airports and major
cities) load up your bags and drive to Newington gate of the Sabi
Sand game reserve.
On arrival at Newington Gate you will be asked which lodge you
are visiting and you will need to pay R80 entrance fee, they will
issue an entrance pass which you must keep and get stamped at the
lodge before departure (no exit from the reserve without this).
You are now in the Famous Sabi reserve ! Directions to your lodge
will be on the vouchers that are emailed to you prior to departure.
Take a leisurely drive to you lodge following the signs and keeping
an eye out for any game, you must stay on the road.
On arrival at the lodge a welcome drink will be awaiting you and
your bags will be taken to your chalet while you are given a tour
of the lodge and the plan for the rest of the day explained to you,
then you will be shown to your chalet and if you are in time then
it will be time to go out on your first game drive… and this
is what makes the Safaris in the private Kruger reserves so special..
you will have a ranger and tracker both experienced in the area
driving and spotting for you as you enjoy the views from an open
game viewing vehicle, and they are allowed to drive off road (and
they will !!) and their job is to get you great views of all the
animals and birds while explaining about them and answering any
questions you may have.
After your exciting first drive there is time back at the lodge
to have a wash and change before wandering to the boma for a starlit
dinner around the fire. At the end of the meal you will be escorted
back to your room where you can drift to sleep to the African sounds.
Days 2 & 3
It is an early morning wake up call as your ranger will awake you
half an hour before dawn, time for a drink and then onto the game
viewing vehicle to catch the animals as dawn breaks, a good time
to see the night prowlers who have been hunting all night then enjoy
the bush awakening around you as you explore and discover more about
the amazing wildlife around you.
As it gets hot you will head back to the lodge for breakfast then
you have some free time to enjoy the lodge facilities and its surroundings,
you can also choose to take a bush walk with your ranger, but you
will be meeting late afternoon for tea then onto the evening game
drive for more great game viewing. Evening meal, drinks under the
stars then to bed to prepare for the next day.
Day 4
Time to say good bye, depending on your onward timetable you can
enjoy the morning game drive and breakfast before you sadly leave,
remember to get your entrance pass stamped by the lodge then make
your way back to the gate then back to the airport / city (of your
choice) to drop off the vehicle.
