Bongani Mountain Lodge near Kruger National Park

Set in a private game reserve on a mountain ridge bordering with Kruger National Park Bongani Montain Lodge has superb views and is surrounded by impressive outcrops of granite. Some of the nearby outcrops have ancient bushman rock art which can be visited during your stay.

In conjunction with the local communities Bongani Mountain Lodge has established one of South Africa's pioneering conservation initiatives. The vision of the project is for sustainable, community-based eco-tourism.

While staying at Bongani Mountain Lodge you will enjoy 3 delicious meals per day and an evening game drive into the private Bongani Mountain Reserve every day in an open 4x4 Game Driving vehicle, with a stop for sundowners before returning for an al-fresco dinner under the African sky.

Each of the en-suite chalets at Bongani Lodge have air-conditioning and ceiling fans as well as a veranda for sitting. There is a private tiolet and shower room as well as a seperate bathroom to relax and enjoy a warm bath after returning from your evening game drive. The suites at Bongani are ideal for families with small children since the sleeper couches in the lounge area can be converted into beds for children.

There is also a Presidential Suite at Bongani Mountain Lodge, also known as the Madiba Suite (named after Nelson Mandela stayed at Bongani Mountain Lodge). This suite has a large private lounge, a sweeping view of the valley below and a kitchen for private dining (not self-catering) as well as two spacious bedrooms.

The decor at Bongani Mountain Lodge is a subtle balance between timber, thatch and striking coloured fabrics with a mixture of traditional ethnic design in keeping with the surrounding area.
