Enjoy the abundant birdlife in the eco-sanctuary, take in the stunning surroundings from your own private deck. The Lagoon, with low salinity, covers an area of approximately 76 square km.

The lagoon is a unique, totally unspoiled, inland waterway surrounded by a few dormant villages and vast coconut plantations. The entire ocean front area and the dunes are part of an eco-centre abundant with small wild life, deer, buck, monkeys and rich bird fauna and fish.

To ensure the peace and tranquillity of Lagoa Poelela resort we have established a no-wake zone without motorized noise and pollution. The motor boating aficionados such as deep sea fishing and high powered boats can be enjoyed on the Indian Ocean front with ample launching facilities at Zavora.

Accommodation at Lake Poelela:
The resort allows for the construction of a limited number (9) of typical beach lodges sleeping 8 people. The interior can be designed exactly to your liking and the finishes are of the highest possible quality. You have the option to build your beach lodge on the beach where you hear the waves rolling in, or if you prefer, build on the lake site where the bird calls will wake you up in the morning. A beautiful, but casual, open-plan restaurants awaits you to enjoy a cold refreshment, light lunches or set menu for dinner including great seafood dishes. Lagoa Poelela & Ponte Zavora are located 300 km north of Maputo.
By car the easiest way is to drive via Nelspruit to Maputo and follow from there on the N1 north. For the more adventurous ones the trip through the Kruger Park is recommended. Flights via Maputo go direct to Inhambane from where it is only one hour by car to the Resort.
