Welcome to Guinjata Holiday Resort..
The province of Inhambane (the land of good people), is where you'll find Guinjata Resort. the Pioneer to one of the world's top 10 dive sites, Manta Reef, was discovered in 1995.

With crystal clear waters, flourishing coral reefs and a host of world-class facilities, this is one of the Indian Ocean coastline's best-kept secrets. Guinjata Resort is approximately 550km north of Maputo and 25km south of the town of Inhambane on the coast (GPS : 24 04' 402' South, 035 29' 726' East).

The road leading to the Resort is a dirt road and only accessible with a 2x4 with difflock or 4x4 vehicle. Transfers from Inhambane can be arranged for people with Sedan vehicles, Busses, Kombi’s etc.
At Guinjata Bay Resort our philosophy is that leisure time activities are an important component of any Resort. We have a diverse assortment of activities catering for all tastes

Accommodation:
A wide range of accommodation is available, from simple yet comfortable 2-8 bedroomed self-contained chalets, which are fully serviced daily, to sheltered camping (baracas). Catered, fly-in and self-drive options and conference facilities are available. Guided self-drive safaris can be arranged.

Bar & Beach Restaurant:
The beach restaurant, with a take-away menu operates during school holidays. For Sports enthusiasts the sports bar has satellite TV for sporting events. A quick shop with essential items and curios is situated on the premises.

Getting to Guinjata Resort:
Departing from OR Tambo International or Lanseria International Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. A 25km transfer from the airport to Guinjata will take you through the heart of the coconut plantations.

Conferencing
Facilities:
The main conference room offers everything you'll need including games. Equipment available includes TV, Video, flipcharts, pool tables and dart boards. The room can comfortably hold up to 30 people cinema-style.

Relaxation:
Those who prefer to simply take a load off their mind can take advantage of our magnificent beach and the crystal clear water of Guinjata Resort.

Discover scuba diving:
Guinjata Resort offers scuba courses, ranging from a 1 hour introduction to scuba in our training pool, to a full 1 day course which includes a shallow open water dive. For qualified open water divers, there is the opportunity to dive at world-famous reefs in the vicinity of the Resort.
To wet your appetite, here are just a few of the incomparable underwater experiences awaiting you at Guinjata Resort


Batfish Pinnacle:

Average depth 12m - Maximum depth 16m
The reef starts on a shallow depth of 6m and then descends down to 12m. Sharks are spotted often and game fish pass by just as frequently. The reef and coral is brightly coloured and teaming with life and interesting little critters. This is a great night dive where you are almost certain to spot Sea Turtles sleeping under the ledges.

Cave:
Average depth 9m - Maximum depth 12m
Cave is an amphitheatre with a swim through cave that features a resident Dragon Moray, Puffer Fish, miniature Tobies as well as Murex and Conch Shell.

Coral Gardens:
Average depth 10m - Maximum depth 12m
Situated close to Pindane. This is a perfect dive site for open water students. It starts at 5m and you can make your way down to depths of 12m over the hardpan. A reef barrier protects this site, which is also fantastic for snorkeling.

Devils peak:
Average depth 12m - Maximum depth 18m
Devils Peak is an almost free standing rock with a swim through and is home to Potato Bass, banded Cleaner Shrimp and frogfish.

Disneyland:
Average depth 22m - Maximum depth 38m
A perfect spot for the adventure seeker ! This new dive site has a ledge on 20m and drops straight down to 45m. On the way down, keep your eyes to the open waters to see if you can spot the huge schools of game fish prowling along. Named after the abundance of Marine life, one feels like you are in the middle of Disneyland with so much to see.

Hard Rock:
Average depth 15m - maximum depth 22m
Situated only 850m from shore it is a very short boat ride. As you ascend to about 15m you get to the top of the wall and then pass along a table like surface gradually descending to a depth of 18m. keep your eyes open for the most spectacular and interesting creatures you have ever seen ! The reefs main attractions are Cleaning Shrimp found at the end of the dive.

Legoland:
Average depth 18m - Maximum depth 24m
This new dive site has been recently found near Guinjata. legoland is located just minutes away from our launching spot at the resort. This abundant reef can be found at 16m and drops to a further 24m. very interesting and unique.

Pao Rock:
Average depth 12m - Maximum depth 18m
Pao Rock and the Pinnacles are a macro photographer's first choice with brightly coloured Nudibranches, well-camouflaged Leaf fish and a variety of Shrimp.

Turtle Creek:
Average depth 18m -Maximum depth 24m
Experience the amazing feeling when descending onto a reef between families of Green Turtles, which do not even seem bothered by the divers presence. The depths range from 14m to 20m and is situated only minutes away from Guinjata resort.

Paindane Reef:
Average depth 18m - Maximum depth 35m
The strong current around the reef has earned its nickname "Paindane express". The reef starts close to shore in about 18m of water and runs rapidly down to 35m. brilliantly coloured Corals, Gorgonian Sea Fans, fast moving game fish occasional sightings of reef sharks make for a particularly interesting dive.

Extacy:
Average depth 20m - Maximum depth 30m
This reef has a plateau with steep ledges and deep crevices, ass well as scattered rock formations and arches that form great swim troughs. This is home to Manta Rays with small cleaning stations on the Northern Pinnacle of the reef. Extasy Reef is truly justified by its name and you can expect a great amount of excitement throughout the whole dive.

Green Tree:
Average depth 22m - Maximum depth 35m
Green Tree is one of Guinjata resort's spectacular wall dives. Located only 8km from Guinjata, awaits the most amazing experience. There you will find 14 Green Tree Corals reaching up to 6m in height and 5m in diameter. This reef has many different species of marine life on the reef.

Manta Reef:
Average depth 18m - Maximum depth 24m
Experienced Dive Masters will introduce you to the reef's inquisitive Manta Rays and diving protocols to interact with them. Manta Reef is one of the most pristine dive sites in the world and is only 10km away from Guinjata Resort. being one of the only two registered Manta-Cleaning stations makes this reef known world wide!

KKZEE:
Average depth 27m - Maximum depth 40m
This is one of Guinjata resort's most recently discovered dive spots. Discovered by Kobi, Koos and Zelda, hence the name KKZEE. An amazing wall dive site with untouched aquatic life at its best. This reef has a sheer drop of 28m and reached depths of 40m

Island Rock:
Average depth 12m - Maximum depth 14m
Island Rock is another one of Guinjata Resorts new dive sites. Depths range from 6m to 14 m. This reef has a great wall like topography and lots of swim through ledges that range from 12m in length. Canyons are on both sides and there is fantastic abundance of aquatic life everywhere. This dive is great for divers that enjoy swim throughs and caves.

Gear & Equipment:
We have a full range of expertly maintained ScubaPro gear. From cylinder, BCD, regulator, weight belt, mask, fins, wetsuit to dive computers. All diving gear is available to rent - especially for people flying in. Guinjata Resort offers 2 x 8m ruber ducks for diving charters. There are also Bauer compressors to fill cylinders.

PADI courses:
Guinjata Resort features a fully-equipped and certified PADI instruction facility, complete with a training pool for scuba training only. Guinjata Resort also offers full time Instructors, Dive Masters and courses.

Dive centre:
To prevent you from lugging your dive gear back to your chalet after each dive the Dive Centre is located on the beach, offering you secure storage for your gear. It features fresh water dunking bins to rinse your dive gear and fresh water showers and toilets for your convenience. A shade netting floor will help prevent all that sand getting into your gear and equipment. At Guinjata Dive Centre, we make the diving life easy!

Fishing:
Fishing Charters now available at Guinjata Resort.

The area offers excellent game fishing. For the keen angler, salt-water fly-fishing is a must. A huge variety of game fish can be found in abundance in the water near the Guinjata Resort. Regular bait fish can be seen in the bay jumping out of the water to escape the hungry mouths of Kingfish, Barracuda, Sailfish and Marlin.
Spear Fishing
Spear fishing is one of the favourite pastimes of the local population. For those who prefer this more extreme version of fishing, charters can be arranged, through various fishing charter outfits in the area.

Ocean safaris & Snorkeling trips
Whale Sharks are seen near Guinjata Resort area all year round, being more in abundance during September to May. Grab your snorkel, fantastic photographic opportunities abound, you might be surprised by Dolphins joining you. Humpback whales also visit Guinjata's shores from May through to October, making for a breathtaking highlight to dive experience. At low tide, the Paindane Reef is exposed and forms a large tidal pool, with a depth of 0-5m. This provides almost pool-like conditions for student training and snorkeling, with a wide range of corals and sea life including octopus, moray eels and a variety of juvenile fish providing wonderful underwater vistas.

Cultural Tours:
Open vehicle excursions to local villages to learn more about the traditional Mozambican culture. See what the locals do with coconuts, casavas, cashew nuts, etc.

Inhambane tours:
Many things to do - visit the local market, go on a dhow trip to Maxixe, visit the Cathedral and museums filled with ancient history.
