Miramar Barra in Mozambique is situated close to the well-known Barra Lighthouse in Inhambane and is a mere 30m stroll to the beach. Wonderful sightings of whales, whale sharks and dolphins can be seen from the living areas of this comfortable privately owned home.

This self-catering house in Barra is geared up to offer family and friends a wonderful Mozambique holiday at very affordable rates.

Accommodation at Miramar Barra, Barra Beach

This amazing holiday rental accommodates 8 guests in 4 en-suite rooms (All rooms are sea facing). Two rooms have double beds. Two rooms have king size beds that can convert into two single beds. All rooms are equipped with high speed fans.

The living area consists of a fully equipped open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area.

Please Note: Miramar Barra can only be accessed by 4x4 vehicle. Currently there are no formal airport transfers available from Inhambane International Airport to the house, so if you do fly in (Privately or by Airline) please make sure that you have someone on the ground for your transport needs. (INH - situated 20 minutes away.)

Miramar Barra is serviced daily by an English speaking, trained local helper who can also be utilised for cleaning fish, washing boats etc.

As we strive to continually improve our offering , you can expect to see changes every time you visit.

ACTIVITIES
Snorkeling:
We are blessed with a shipwreck in knee deep water at low tide & an amazing natural tidal pool right on our doorstep. These areas are filled with an array of wonderful sea life that will amaze young and old.

Just remember, don't touch anything!

Freediving & Spearfishing:
A safe and simple shore entry is easily achieved by experienced freedivers right in front of the house. This gives you access to a very large reef structure that can be explored for hours on end in depths ranging from 3-30 meters. Please do not attempt this shore entry unless you are being supervised by an instructor or very experienced freediver who knows these currents.

It is recommended to bring a boat (twin engined) for offshore spearfishing as this will give you access to some amazing reefs holding a variety of game fish including Yellow Fin Tuna, Marlin, Wahoo, Barracuda, King Mackerel & Kingfish, including the almighty GT.

GPS Coordinates for Spearfishing & Fishing spots can be found in the welcome pack inside the house.

Fishing:
Whether you prefer shore angling, fly fishing or trolling something colorful behind your vessel, this area is for you. Amazing fish can be caught in a variety of different areas ranging from offshore pinnacles, estuaries or by simply casting your bait behind the surf line right in front of the house.

Whale Watching etc.
Whales, Whalesharks, jumping Rays and Dolphins are often spotted right from the dining table. Keep your eyes peeled to witness these amazing animals in action right in front of Miramar Barra.

Birding
There are hides and walkways on the nearby estuary which offer amazing opportunities to spot a variety of interesting and sometimes rare creatures.

Walks
Tofo is a very popular early morning hike. Alternatively, a leisurely stroll down to some of the beach bars and restaurants for a sundowner may be more to your liking.

Kite surfing and Kayaking
These are very popular in this area, so make sure that you bring your gear to take advantage of the massive soft beaches and variety of paddling destinations.

Weather
We are blessed with excellent weather year round and a complete absence of anything worth calling winter. The slight constant sea breeze that we have blowing most of the time does wonders for keeping pesky mosquitoes at bay.

DIRECTIONS TO MIRAMAR BARRA

From Maputo, take the EN1 North to Xai Xai. Approximately 50km after Inharrime, there is a signboard on your left 'Lindela'. Take the right fork at this point to Inhambane. In Inhambane, turn right when you reach the harbour pier on your left. Travel through the town until you reach the stop sign. Continue to your right around the circle and follow signs to Tofo and Airport (Aeroporto). At the Tofo/Barra crossroads, with Bar Babalaza on your right hand side, continue straight on a dirt road for approximately 7kms.

Turn right at beach sand road at the signs for the lighthouse (at the 'big tree' before the road splits). Deflate your tyres to 1 bar and continue along this road until you reach the lighthouse. Turn right after the last building on the right (after the Bali Hai Lodge signs) and continue 100 metres to enter the property – the house is on the right. The staff will assist you to unload your vehicles.
