Campbell's Bay self catering accommodation was opened in 2004 by Willy and Gayle Strong, originally from Port Edward on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. They have always vacationed in Mozambique and have owned houses there previously.

They fell in love with the country and it’s culture so much, that they decided to share it with others. The perfect spot was located in Praia da Barra, 27Kms from Inhambane and they built five beautiful thatched roof houses right on the beach, so you only have a 70 metre walk to the sea from your doorstep.

Accommodation at Campbell's Bay, Barra Beach

Campbell's Bay accommodation is right on the beach and consists of 5 self catering thatched roof houses with a 3 Star Rating, they are:

• 3 houses have 4 bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and can sleep 10 people.
• 2 houses have 3 bedrooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and can sleep 8 people.

They each have the following facilities:
• Fully equipped kitchen.
• Microwave, toaster & kettle.
• Fridge Freezer.
• Separate Freezer to contain all your frozen goodies and the fish that you catch!
• Fully tiled, single storey and thatched roofed.
• Treated mosquito nets, safe for humans.
• Beds are queen-sized with high quality mattresses.
• 70 metre walk to the beach.
• Possible to launch boats from the front of the property, if you have one.
• EDM electricity on site (generator as backup).

Other Facilities available:

A Laundromat with 2 Speed queens which can each hold 7Kgs of washing per load, at a cost of 100 Meticais.

Assistance (Maid) are available to you, should you request this service, the daily cost is ZAR20.00 per day.

What to bring:
Please bring your own towels, clothing, food and whatever else you feel you will require for the duration of your stay.
Campbell's Bay has a well but for guests who are sensitive, please bring bottled water

ACTIVITIES
Inhambane boasts some of the most spectacular diving spots. The sea life is literally untouched and you will experience some amazing sights and moments on the diving expeditions available to you.

Shore and Deep Sea Fishing is a must for all you keen fishermen out there. There is a broad spectrum of game fish in abundance. It’s every fisherman's dream!

You can take long scenic walks along the crisp white beaches or just laze around and catch up on your tanning. Horse riding can be arranged for all you riding enthusiasts. Nothing sounds better than riding a horse on the beach with the wind blowing through your hair.

4x4 Vehicles are available for hire with plenty of trails to choose from.

The locals are very talented people, and they sell their wares at various markets. There is such a variety to choose from, you will have a hard time making up your mind as to what you are going to buy as souvenirs.

Location
Campbell's Bay is located in Mozambique, approximately 27 Km's from the town of Inhambane at Praia da Barra.

The town of Inhambane lies 500km north of Maputo and can be reached by tar road, although a 4x4 may be necessary to reach other areas. It is one of the oldest towns in Mozambique dating back to the 10th century and the Arab traders. It was in 1534 that the Portuguese established a permanent trading post. The atmosphere and architecture in the town reflects this exciting and diverse history.

DIRECTIONS TO CAMPBELLS BAY
By Road:
From Maputo, follow the EN1 north to Xai Xai. Xai Xai is a good stop to refuel (Engen Garage recommended). From Xai Xai continue north to Inhambane. Where the road splits at Lindela, take the right hand fork and drive through the town of Inhambane. At the circle, take the road to Tofo /Aeroporto. At Bar Babalaza crossroads, continue straight on dirt road for approximately 7 km's. Where the road forks, keep left and follow the road for approximately 1.5 kilometres. Campbell's Bay is on the right hand side.

Flights:
Flights are available from Johannesburg’s OR Tambo airport on LAM (Mozambique Airline) on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
