Unwind in this humbling atmosphere and soak up the beauty and many wonders that the surroundings have to offer - spectacular and exquisite panoramic vistas, unspoiled pristine beaches, the Indian Ocean’s crystal clear and warm water, stunning reefs of varying depths, extraordinary marine life and fascinating corals. Our lifestyle is simple yet resonates with a charming and spirited African charisma.

The 4 x 4 campsite near the Lighthouse at Ponta da Barra is situated at the point of the pristine Barra Peninsula, approx. 20 Km from the town of Inhambane on the Barra peninsula, where Africa is still Africa.

The town of Inhambane is located approximately 500 km north of Maputo and is characterized by fascinating architecture, fresh produce markets and a simple African vibe, with an unmistakable hint of Portuguese and Arabic influence. Inhambane may serve as a refreshment station and for an occasional night out on the town.

LICENCES AND PERMITS:
Boat launch license and fishing permits available in Inhambane. Spear fishing of bottom fish is punishable with fines of up to 10 000 000 Meticais approx. (R3 000).

MODE OF TRANSPORT:
For access to the camping or full exploration of the area, a 4x4 vehicle is necessary.

TRANQUILITY:
By virtue of its position and environment, Camping Ponta da Barra is generally frequented by visitors who appreciate the tranquility of the natural surroundings.
We urge all visitors to respect this and not play loud music or generally not make too much noise. Please minimize driving in the campsite and do not use quad bikes and motor bikes in the campsite at all.

NO-NO's:
- No pets allowed.
- No quad or motor bikes in campsite or on beaches.
- No jet ski’s allowed in immediate vicinity of swimming beach.
- No electrical appliances with elements allowed (eg kettles, hair-dryers, etc).
- Fish to be cleaned at special fish cleaning bay and NOT in the campsite.

RECOMMENDATIONS: .
Camp Helper: Reliable and honest help by arrangement. DO NOT hire someone who has not been authorized by the camp management.
Water: Don’t drink water unless first boiled or properly filtered. Campsite water is precious, please use it sparingly.

WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU:
Meat (vacuum packed) and dairy products; Insect repellent. Please support the economy by purchasing basic foodstuffs locally.
