Barra Lake and Sea Resort is situated on the banks of the lagoon, with a perfect view of the lagoon in front of you and the sea on your right-hand side. Although the resort is not located directly on the beach, guests will experience so much more for 80% of the time and can still drive or paddle around to the beach.

You can choose from several different unit types at this magical setting....

Sixteen-sleeper: Sleeps 8 Adults and 8 Children in 4 family sleeping rooms. Each room has got a double bed and a bunker bed that is covered with the highest quality mosquito nets. The 4 bathrooms are en-suite. The 2 kitchens are well equipped for the self-catering of a group of 16 people.

There is a very large living room that leads to the 2 outside lapas and Braai areas. This unit is rounded off with a private swimming pool.

Six-sleeper: Sleeps 4 Adults and 2 Children in two separate sleeping rooms. One room has got a double bed and the other room has got a double bed and a bunker bed. The 2 bathrooms are en-suite. The kitchen is well-equipped, forms an open plan with the living area and leads to an outside lapa and Braai. A communal swimming pool is available.

Two-sleeper: Sleeps 2 Adults in one open plan unit with kitchen and living area that leads to the outside deck and braai. The bathroom is private. A communal swimming pool is available.

Camping sites: The camping sites have got under-roof areas where tents can be erected. They share communal bathroom facilities and kitchen facilities.

Although scenically superb, there are presently no other tourism developments adjacent to Barra Lake and Sea. However, a number of well established resort developments are to be found in close proximity at Barra village where enticingly wide beaches and calm bays lure sunbathers, snorkellers, intrepid scuba divers and fishermen.

The Province possesses a natural coastal playground that supports a unique cultural heritage plus many places of historic, artistic and marine interest. The region has a strange magic for making permanent friends.

Enjoy endless times in the open-air restaurant and bar, indulging in seafood, pizzas, cocktails, and best sunset views. Snorkeling the reef the quiet waters gives a very safe and clear opportunity for the inexperienced snorkeller, while the Star Fish walking trail allows guests to view the fascinating marine life with an experienced guide and use the opportunity to pick up pansy shells. Day trips to Porcos Island and Pansy Island on a traditional dhow are also available. They have been sailing the East African coast for centuries and in Mozambique, they are still hand-crafted like the first Arabic boats that came to this coast.

We offer a relaxing atmosphere and a paradise for nature-lovers who want to share in all the excitement that the area offers, and want to relax with perfect views and surroundings back at the resort. Accommodation is offered in self-catering chalets, above the normal standards for the area, and well-built with tiled floors and glass showers.

The roads leading to Inhambane are of a high standard, except for a 30 km piece after Xai-Xai where they are busy rebuilding. The last 3 km to the resort is still a sand road and you would need assistance when you first drive this road with a normal sedan.
