Coconut Bay is located next to Guinjata Bay in the Inhambane province of Mozambique. You will need a 4x4 of 2x4 with diff lock to access the resort, alternatively parking and transfers can be arranged from the nearby Inhambane Town.

Enjoy Seafood, Mozambican specialties and Portuguese food in the Coconut Bay restaurant, there is also satellite television in the restaurant for your enjoyment. The fully licensed bar sells drinks, fresh bread, ice and even coconut water. buffets and meals can be arranged for your birthday, wedding or any other special occassion.

Next to the restaurant is a Games room with table tennis, pool and soccer tables. A small shop at Coconut Bay provides for basic needs.

Coconut Bay Resort Accommodation

Accommodation at Coconut Bay Resort is in self catering chalets and rondavels, en-suite "casitas" or shaded camping.

Coconut Bay Chalets can sleep 4-6 people in two bedrooms. All chalets are self catering and equipped for 6 people.

Coconut Bay Beach Chalets can sleep 4-6 people in two bedrooms. All Beach chalets are equipped for 6 people and have air-conditioning in the main bedroom.

Coconut Bay Casitas are en-suite rooms with a double bed - great for couples and honeymooners.

Coconut Bay Camp Site is a large spacious area divided into marked out campsites, most have a dhaded area to sit under and there are two large campsites with lapas for groups. The campsites share an ablution block split into male and female.

Activities at Coconut Bay Resort

The biggest attraction is the Indian Ocean. The waves are good enough for body surfing and swimming is safe. You can buy fish or crayfish from the local fishermen, they offer their catch in a wicker basket.

Swim and Snorkel in safe clear water. On the south side of the beach is a rock reef that is partially exposed during low tide. This is great for snorkelling.

Scuba Diving There are several dive sites nearby - Manta Reef is only 3 miles away. Coconut Bay Scuba Diving Centre will collect you from the resort and take care of all you diving needs.

Fishing Charters – when last did you catch a real game fish? Experienced charters in the area provide all tackle and almost guarantee your catch!

Pristine Beaches - take a leisurely stroll on endless pristine beaches, or just relax and watch the waves, whales and dolphins.

Visit nearby Inhambane for a touch of local colour. The old Portuguese architecture and tropical surroundings of Inhambane Town make the town a historical must-see for every tourist. The town of Inhambane is only a 30 minute drive from the resort and offers a daily food market, restaurants and other sight-seeing spots. What makes the town unique is its heritage. Inhambane is one of the oldest towns in Southern Africa .

As Vasco da Gama rounded Africa in the late 1400s he sailed into the beautiful bay of Inhambane to replenish stocks and to explore. The explorer fell in love with the area and named it “Terra de Boa Gente” - land of the friendly, gentle people. Fourty years later the Portuguese established a trading post and settled in Mozambique . Inhambane was an important port, and still has a large fleet of working dhows.
